About Me
Background

I thrive on new challenges and opportunities. I am most energized designing, building and implementing something from scratch, rather than managing an ongoing process.

Banker. Photographer. Business Manager for sports organization. Computer Consultant. Estimator in construction industry. Administrative manager for computer dealer. Swim Coach. I look forward to what's next with eager anticipation.

My Swimming involvement, especially the 14 years serving on the USA Swimming Board of Directors, in four different elective positions, including Treasurer, has served to deepen my big picture analytical and management experience.

In the photographic realm, this site offers some of my work, primarily travel, landscapes and swimming. Some of the pictures are available for purchase by clicking on the Purchase Prints tab on any page here.

I became a first time father at the age of 52. The experience enriches everyone, of course. Yet there is something especially rewarding about waiting - not that I planned it that way - to have children. You can read my blog about the experiences of fatherhood by clicking on the 52andcounting.com, tab on any page here.

Banking Experience

I spent 17 years with a top five bank, the vast majority of my tenure in operations, primarily in electronic document management, and a call center.

At different times, my responsibilities on the operations side included:
  • Management of image capture sites (page volumes grew from under 1 million to 43 million pages per year)
  • Served as Custodian of Records for credit card and consumer loan accounts
  • Development, implementation, and tracking of MIS and continuous improvement (quality) standards
  • Budgeting and department profit/ loss management
  • Management of audit and compliance requirements, including Graham-Leach-Bliley and Sarbannes-Oxley
  • Staff management of up to 200 employees

In the call center:
  • Initially hired as a temporary customer service representative to assist with increased call volumes resulting from a bank acquisition.
  • Within a year and a half, served as co-manager of 150 person call center
  • Designed, implemented and tested new call system as call center tripled in size and included multiple sites
  • Developed predictive staffing models matching staff with call volumes

Throughout, I served on over 30 conversion teams, responsible for systems and process conversions resulting from bank acquisitions. During one conversion, I personally discovered a multi-million dollar error and worked with a small team to resolve the problem and recoup all of the losses, for which we received the top annual award from the Information Technology division.
